Gidimt’en Grizzly Den
2020 Victoria, BC

Thanks to an anonymous donor, we had enough money to build a second tiny house in one summer for the Gidimt’en (a clan of the Wet’suwet’en nation).

Once again, I was working with my good friend Catherine Wallace and a team of volunteers. Catherine managed to find two flats of cedar siding, mill rejects, at an incredible discount so the entire thing is cedar. Interior, exterior, trim... It smells like a sauna!

It was an incredible experience to be part of an energizing community build, with some 40+ people coming together to build a house over the course of 8 days. Aside from the actual building people cooked lunch every day, made silk screen shirts, brought snacks in the afternoons, and organized workshops for the evenings (ranging from street medic work, anti-police organizing, ally-ship, and naloxone training).
